AGRANA confers promotion award for science and research at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna

For the 23rd time, AGRANA Beteiligungs-AG has conferred its promotion award for science and research. Norbert Harringer, Board Director of AGRANA Beteiligungs-AG, today handed over the AGRANA Research Promotion Award to Evi Deltedesco and Heidrun Leonhardt at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna.

Date: 08.11.2021

Evi Deltedesco received the award from AGRANA for her thesis entitled Interactive effects of warming, elevated CO2 and weather extremes on nitrogen fluxes and underlying microbial processes. Against the backdrop of climate change, Deltedesco combined the impacts of various environmental factors such as global warming or raised CO2 concentrations of various levels on biogeochemical processes.

Heidrun Leonhardt received the AGRANA Research Promotion Award for her thesis on the behaviour of Austrian farmers in relation to soil protection on arable land. Her thesis entailed investigating whether farmers working leased land treated this land differently to their own and which leasing conditions contributed to or counteracted this different behaviour.

“As a global procurer of agricultural raw materials which processes these in its Fruit, Starch and Sugar segments, research on the impacts of climate change on agriculture, and particularly the issue of soil cultivation, is very important for us. The aim of the AGRANA Research Promotion Award is to specifically honour the work of young scientists and their research in fields which are extremely important for AGRANA at the moment,” Harringer highlighted.
